Apologies beforehand that this is not a “Go Green” blog entry. No offense, it’s not that it’s beneath me or anything, I’m just adding this prologue because I realized it might be misleading. Oh, whatever—you’re all grownups.
I’m not going to lie; Upstate New York is downright ugly a good portion of the year. It honks a horn. I want out. Actually, anywhere that loses leaves from the trees is ugly. Brown. Barren. Scary. Depressing. People are like, “You’re from Florida? How do you deal with Christmases in the heat? And palm trees? So sad that you don’t see leaves change colors!” and I’m all like, “Yeah, whateva. You take those seasons and enjoy your Seasonal Affective Disorder while you’re raking all those dingy leaves up, all pale and stuff. Suckaaaaas!”
In all seriousness. The Northeasts of Fall and Winter really have big shoes to fill when it comes time for Spring, and she usually redeems herself pretty well. Outdoor patios with plentiful beers on tap help me with this rosy opinion. Shoot, I could fall in love with your corns, given enough Sauv Blanc.
But it seems like every day things get greener and more lush up here. Apparently, so has my taste in clothes.
Bottoms up, Mother Nature!
Olive green is my favorite kind of green…
