[Mara Hoffman Galaxy dashiki caftan, $342 @shopbop.com]
I feel like this caftan just needs a head scarf, a crystal ball, and a room full of shrunken heads. Then she could make out with a cursed, tiny leprechaun.
The black caftan might be my least favorite rendition. (Even though, take note that Mara does more beautiful and daring caftans than anyone else, in my opinion.) It’s sort of a cop-out, very safe, then you make it sheer, and it’s just a glorified bathing suit cover-up. But I’m not knocking this one, it’s mighty fine, and I would put on a long slip underneath and wear this into the ground while telling you your fortune. [I advise you to click that link.]
Wait! I know why I’m getting so defensive! I had a dream last night that someone left a nasty comment about my liking caftans because they “cover the giant circumference of your huge ass.” Ha ha ha ha ha! This is incredible. I love the stigma that make me remember dreams. Not as funny: I also dreamt it was Saturday today and woke up entirely pissed off at the world. I was grumpy until ~10 minutes later when I was doing a Laugh-In style dance for Eli in the bathroom, in my underwear, to this song:
[M, "Mon Ego"]
Happy Friday!

p.s. A joke my dad always tells me that I can’t get enough of, that this post reminded me of. Q: Why can’t witches have babies? A: Because wizards have crystal balls!
<< Next Post

I always heard it this way: Why can’t witches have babies? Because their husbands have halloweenies!
HA! That’s usually his follow up. I love the use of “husbands,” don’t you? I shouldn’t have changed it to wizards, it has way more domesticated witch humor as husbands.
Why can’t ghosts have babies? Because they have halloweenies.
- ok i admit, it’s the worst joke ever, but i have a 12 year old boys sense of humor so I find it amusing…
Another gem! hahahaha.
please tell me this will be a future purchase of yours. thanks.
Great post Rob & Carey!
As a sidenote, the famous “Little Black Dress” that does alot of the heavy lifting in alot of women’s aresenal is merely a black sundress.
A study showed that men find a woman more attractive in a sundress than in lingerie. Don’t ask for a source offhand, it is somewhere on my sundress website, http://www.sundresses.net.
With that in mind, I give a nod of respect to the little black caftan…
