Anthropologie: video vignettes.

Anthropologie launched a new video vignette feature on their site, showing different outfits alive and cruising around in various picture-perfect locations. This is just brilliant to me—and totally plays off the idea of the Weeks of Dasha video fashion blog I posted about recently. Things are evolving! Video is magic!

[Screenshot of landing page. Click on a location to see a vignette of a model poking around a vintage book shop, buying some croissants, you know... things you picture the Anthropologie girl doing.]

I have this seed in my brain that’s germinating: short, :30 video blogs with a quick outfit scan… Rob opening a bottle of wine… Eli motoring by… the old lady neighbor dragging her whimpering teacup poodle down the sidewalk… all set to great tunes…

Tres bien, Anthropologie. You managed to change things up while seamlessly translating your brand into the concept and the visuals. I mean, when I see a hat in an Anthropologie catalogue, I’m totally subconsciously imagining it on a woman blowing on a hot cup of coffee in some chic little cafe. Right? That’s essence! Brilliant!

Anthropologie knows how to do it to us, hmm?

It’s funny you mention wanting to get into video more – we’ve been thinking the same thing. In fact, we did Laura’s closet tour a couple weeks ago – I’m sitting on about 15 min of unedited footage I’ve got to get together. I’ve also been toying w/the idea of a video look book for the shop, though that’s proving to take quite a bit more time than I expected….anyway, I totally think you should go for the video idea. I’d watch! Plus, it amps up the voyeurism ante and I’m such a stalker! I mean. What?

I *love* Anthropologie! And this is genius. I’d love to see more videos on blogs too!

Yay! I’m so glad you like them! When I first saw them, I thought, “awesome.” :) I love the ability of video to help you see things and experience things more clearly. I would totally watch your videos if you decide to do them! But you’d have to promise that Eli would be a feature! ;)
