Is there concrete all around, or is it in my head?

[Backporch loitering, waiting for the hotdogs to cook up: J.Crew vintage linen tee + True Religion shorts + by Malene Birger key pendant necklace + Club Monaco earrings + Michael Kors huaraches.]

Part cat escape narrative + part jewelry post + part recipe.

I’d advise you just scroll down to the part about the hotdogs.

Give a cat an inch…

Rob used the break in the heat as a perfect excuse to explore the back outdoor stairwell while the hotdogs simmered on the stove, and taunt Eli.

Backs turned for 5 minutes, and he’d opened the screen door on his own and made his escape:

Not a lot to this recipe, but it’s big on deliciousness and takes the edge off a hot summer night. Chilean style hotdogs: relish on top of all beef dogs in buns toasted with homemade garlic butter:

By Malene Birger key necklace, via ShopBop. Dirt cheap sale. Get it before it’s gone:

Right before he started rolling in a mystery substance/licking it off the ground:

Belle Noel ring from ShopBop, $13, cleaning up the sale section:

That’s Nail, Inc’s “Porchester Square” from Sephora next to my ragged cuticles, and there’s an Adia Kibur ring in there, too, $14:

Finished product:

So here’s the goods: eyeball this all depending on how many you want to make. Whisk together a few TBSP of olive oil, a few of lime juice, a few of cilantro, a couple of sliced shallots, and a jalapeno or two. Fold in a couple of avocados, tomatoes, and salt and pepper. Spread some soft butter and minced garlic inside the buns and lay those suckers in a hot pan.

I called my dad immediately after this to rave about this mutation on our favorite summer snack. That’s huge; meaning, you should probably try it.

Speaking of my dad, post title is inspired by a vinyl record he used to play for me when I was wee: Mott the Hoople’s “All the Young Dudes” that I have a copy of myself. And groovy as my parents are, they lived in a condo on the ocean in Jax Beach before I was born, and their first cat—a grey, migrant fellow who followed them down the street to bars—was named Motty, for just that.

Enjoy both; the song, and the dogs. Happy winding down of summer, ladies and germs.

I’m a dude, dad.
