Oregon living: Day 1.

Don’t worry, I’m not actually going to do ‘marooned on an island’ numerical postings! I understand that despite my excitement, readers may grow tired of vine pictures. Me scrubbing the inside of a 3000-gallon oak barrel in my new rubber suit, on the other hand, I won’t fail to document.

I met the good folks at Walnut City Wineworks today. There is a definite calm before the storm tension right now as the grapes hang and do their thing in the final moments. But everybody is excited, and I’m far less anxious now that I’ve felt out my surroundings, and I’m quite grateful for being welcomed so wholeheartedly.

[Lunch at Community Plate in downtown McMinnville. Big tables, a good scene, and even better food. The only thing missing was Carey.]

[Dundee Hills---Archery Summit's vines, to be specific. A sightseeing tour at the end of the day.]

Such beautiful photos. That restaurant looks like an off-the-beaten-path kind of place you two would post about together. This time is going to FLY by, but good luck and enjoy this experience!

Hi Rob! Wishing you the best on your first Harvest! Michael will surely be a great mentor. Here at Troon Vineyard we’d love to send you some wines to keep you company during your stay. Do you have an address? Maybe just the winery? If so, just email me the info.

We are harvesting our first grapes this weekend for God King Slave Wines- 2 tons of Sauvignon Blanc from the Rogue Valley. I’m very excited to make our first white wine!

Rob Your Dad and Mom were just here with their new puppy that is adorable. I sat with her for one day while they were in a golf tournament and we really bonded. I’m sure we will get more chanaces to dogsit. While here your Dad fixed me up so I could get all your upddates on this great experience you are having. It has been very interesting to get all this info on something I know so little about. I just pop the cork and drink but now I have a much better understanding of what all has to take place.. I can see why uyou are so enthusiastic because it is a chance of a life time. Will look forwqard to your subsequent submissions and my educcation of the wine process. Sounds like the subject of a book but I guess there are many out there but I never had the curiosity to research. Thanks again and our very best. Gram and PopPop
